Lost or Stolen: Will You Get It Back? (KP Horary)

How KP horary judges whether a lost or stolen item will be recovered — the 2nd, 11th houses for return versus the 8th and 12th for loss, plus how the chart hints at direction.

"Will I get it back?" is one of the oldest questions put to an astrologer — a lost phone, misplaced jewellery, a stolen wallet. Because the loss happens at a moment, it is a natural horary (Prashna) question, and KP astrology has a clear way to judge it.

Which house?

For a movable possession, KP looks at the 2nd house — your movable wealth and belongings. The judgment then rests on the sub-lord of the 2nd cusp, exactly as described in how the cusp sub-lord decides yes or no.

Recovered, or gone?

The astrologer reads which houses that 2nd cusp sub-lord signifies:

  • Recovered when it signifies the 2nd (your property returns to you) and the 11th (fulfilment, getting back what was wanted).
  • Lost for good when it leans to the 8th (other people's hands, obstruction) or the 12th (loss, things that go away and do not return).

A retrograde sub-lord is a hopeful sign here — in horary, retrograde often means something returning. As always, if the planets that promise recovery are also ruling planets at the moment of the question, the yes is firmer, and the dasha running from the question's Moon hints at when.

A word on "where" and "who"

Classic horary also tries to describe the direction and circumstances — using the element of the rising sign for a rough direction (fire → east, earth → south, air → west, water → north), and whether the sign is movable or fixed to suggest the thing has been carried away or is still nearby. These are supportive hints, not certainties; the honest answer is always "recovered or not first, details second."

This is the same disciplined approach KP brings to every question — see how questions are answered in Vedic and KP astrology.

Important note. Astrology should be studied as a system of guidance and timing. A responsible astrologer first examines whether the event is promised; timing is given only after the promise is seen. For health, legal, financial, or medical matters, astrology should be used as supportive guidance and not as a replacement for qualified professional advice.
