What Is Horary (Prashna) Astrology — and Why It's So Accurate

Horary or Prashna astrology answers a single question from the moment you ask it — no birth time needed. Here's how it works and when to use it.

Most people think astrology needs your exact date, time and place of birth. For a full life reading, it does. But there is a powerful branch that needs none of that — only a sincere question. It is called horary astrology, or Prashna in Sanskrit.

The core idea

In Prashna astrology, the astrologer casts a chart for the exact moment a genuine question is asked. The belief — borne out in practice over centuries — is that the moment itself carries the answer. The chart of that moment is read to reveal whether something will happen and when.

Why it matters so much in India

Here is the honest problem with birth-chart readings: most people do not know their correct time of birth. A reading is only as accurate as the birth time behind it, and an error of even a few minutes can change the result.

That is precisely why Mr. R P Pandey began focusing on horary astrology. As he puts it: most people don't know the correct time of their birth, so to give an accurate prediction it is wiser to use the Prashna Kundli instead of the Janam Kundli.

What kind of questions suit Prashna?

Horary is at its best with specific, single questions that have a real answer, such as:

  • Will I get this job?
  • Should I go ahead with this property deal?
  • Will this marriage proposal work out?
  • Is now the right time to start my business?
  • Will my lost item be found?

The more sincere and focused the question, the clearer the reading.

What it is not for

Prashna is not for idle curiosity or testing ("guess what I'm thinking"). It works when the question genuinely matters to you and you ask it with real intent. It also answers one question at a time — that focus is the source of its accuracy.

How a horary reading works with Mr. Pandey

  1. You bring one clear question that is troubling you.
  2. The chart is cast for that moment and analysed using KP's sub-lord method.
  3. You receive a direct answer — and, where helpful, the likely timing and a simple remedy.

No birth certificate, no guessing your birth time, no long forms. Just your question.

A traditional companion: reading the breath

Prashna has an older yogic cousin called Swar Vidya — reading which nostril your breath flows through at the moment of a question. It works on the same principle: the moment carries the answer. If that interests you, see Swar Vidya — how the breath answers a question.
