रामशलाका प्रश्नावली क्या है? · What is Ram Shalaka Prashnavali?

Ram Shalaka Prashnavali (also called Ramayan Prashnavali or Ramcharitmanas Prashnavali) is a traditional question-oracle built from nine (9) chaupais — verses of Goswami Tulsidas’s Shri Ramcharitmanas. The letters of the nine chaupais are interwoven into a 15×15 grid of 225 letters. The seeker concentrates on a question, takes Shri Ram’s name, and chooses one letter; counting every 9th letter from that spot re-forms one complete chaupai — and that chaupai, read with its meaning, is the answer.

Traditionally the shalaka (a thin stick) was placed on a printed page of the prashnavali at the back of the Ramcharitmanas. This page is the same tradition made available free online, in Hindi and English.

Every answer of the Ram Shalaka is one of these nine chaupais from the Ramcharitmanas — five are auspicious (शुभ), three counsel caution (अशुभ), and one leaves the matter to Shri Ram’s will.

प्रश्न-उत्तर · Frequently asked questions

How accurate is Ram Shalaka Prashnavali?

Ram Shalaka is a tradition of faith (āstha), not a calculation. Its guidance is read as Shri Ram's blessing on a sincere question — devotees have used it for centuries at moments of doubt. Ask one clear question with a calm mind, and take the chaupai's direction in that devotional spirit. For a precise, chart-based answer with timing, a horary (Prashna) reading is the astrological method.

Is Ram Shalaka Prashnavali available online in English?

Yes — this page is a free online Ram Shalaka. The chaupais appear in the original Avadhi (Devanagari) exactly as Tulsidas wrote them, with the meaning explained in both Hindi and English.

रामशलाका से एक दिन में कितनी बार प्रश्न पूछ सकते हैं? (How many times can I ask?)

(Tradition asks that one question be asked once, with a sincere heart. Different questions may be asked at different times.)

Ramayan Prashnavali, Ramcharitmanas Prashnavali and Ram Shalaka — are they the same?

Yes. All three names refer to the same tradition: the prashnavali (question oracle) built from nine chaupais of Goswami Tulsidas's Shri Ramcharitmanas. It is also written Ram Salaka or Shri Ram Shalaka.

A gentle note. The Ram Shalaka is a tradition of faith and reflection — a way to pause, pray and listen. Take its guidance in that spirit. For a careful study of your own chart and the timing of an event, a personal reading is the right next step.
