R P Pandey — Horary, KP & Vedic Astrologer
The man who reads the planets. For more than 40 years, he has helped people understand the timing of their lives — when the time is favourable, and when it is not.
R P Pandey was born in the village of Lasaria, near Kekri, in Rajasthan. His very first guru was his own father, Pandit Jagdish Prasad Pandey — a renowned and respected astrologer of the area, whose knowledge, and the respect he earned, drew young Pandey to this science.
From his father he went on to learn from many gurus through his life, who taught him advanced astrology and the KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) system. Alongside them he has read hundreds of books — by his own admission, a lifelong reader. Astrology, he says, is a vast subject: you must keep learning your whole life to keep improving. Even today he studies it with the same curiosity he had on the very first day.
What he is best known for is timing. Using dashas and antardashas, and his deep study of ruling planets, Prashna kundli and horary astrology through KP formulae, he tries to give the likely date or month of an event — not vague generalities. More often than not, his timing turns out to be accurate.
People come to him for many reasons, but above all for one: to know when the time is favourable for them, and when it is not. That single piece of clarity helps a person move through a difficult phase with patience, and make the most of a good one.
He consults in Hindi and Rajasthani. (He reads and writes English too, and uses a translator when an English conversation is needed.) People call him from across India and around the world. And in his whole life he has never asked for a fee — because he believes astrology should be used for the good of mankind. He simply tries to help with whatever knowledge he has, with the blessings of his father and his gurus.

How he sees astrology
To R P Pandey, astrology is not blind belief — it is mathematics. It is the study of our universe, the planets, their positions, and the calculations that tell us what is likely to come.
People have used jyotish since ancient times, often without realising it. On a full-moon night you can travel safely after dark; on Amavasya you cannot — and with simple maths you can predict, accurately, exactly when each will fall. Boatmen learned long ago to avoid the open sea on the full moon. The position of the Moon shapes life on Earth — the simplest example of how the sky touches our daily lives.
This is why his readings always carry a reason. He does not say “this is my feeling”. He points to the placements in the chart and the formulae — learned from his gurus and hundreds of books — that explain why an event should happen.
He is also a firm believer in modern science. He uses laptops, tablets, phones and astrology software to speed up his calculations and sharpen his predictions. His approach is always positive: to give the right advice, and to help.
