How Marriage Is Judged in Astrology
How marriage is judged in Vedic and KP astrology — the 7th house and its lord, Venus and Jupiter, houses 2, 7 and 11, the 7th cusp sub-lord, delay, and timing.
Marriage is not judged only from Venus or the 7th house. A complete judgment studies family formation, the spouse, emotional compatibility, delay, denial, separation, and timing.
In astrology, the first question is not "when will marriage happen?". The first question is: is marriage promised? Only after the promise is seen should timing be judged.
The Vedic method
In Vedic Astrology, marriage is mainly studied from:
- 7th house — spouse, marriage, partnership
- 7th lord — the condition of marriage
- Venus — marriage significator, especially for men
- Jupiter — husband significator in a woman's chart
- 2nd house — family formation
- 11th house — fulfilment of desire
- Navamsa (D9) — strength and quality of married life
- Dasha and transit — timing
The astrologer checks whether the 7th house and 7th lord are strong, afflicted, delayed by Saturn, disturbed by Rahu–Ketu, or supported by benefics. The Navamsa is also studied, because marriage cannot be judged from the birth chart alone.
The KP method
In KP, marriage is judged mainly through houses 2, 7, and 11 — the 2nd shows addition to the family, the 7th shows the spouse and marriage, and the 11th shows fulfilment of desire.
The KP astrologer studies:
- the 7th cusp sub-lord
- whether the 7th cusp sub-lord signifies 2, 7, and 11
- whether it is connected to denying houses such as 1, 6, 10, or 12
- the significators of 2, 7, and 11
- the ruling planets at the time of judgment
- the operating dasha–bhukti–antara
- the transit of the final event-giving planets
Common questions and the approach
Will I get married?
Vedic: Check the 7th house, 7th lord, Venus/Jupiter, the 2nd and 11th houses, the Navamsa, and the marriage dasha. KP: Check whether the 7th cusp sub-lord signifies 2, 7, and 11.
When will marriage happen?
Vedic: Marriage can occur in the dasha of planets connected with the 7th house, 7th lord, Venus, Jupiter, the 2nd house, or the 11th house. KP: Marriage happens in the joint period of the significators of 2, 7, and 11, confirmed by ruling planets and transit.
Will a love marriage happen?
Vedic: Check the connection between the 5th and 7th houses. Venus, Rahu, Moon, and Mars may show attraction or an unconventional marriage, depending on strength. KP: Check whether the 5th and 7th cusps connect with 2, 7, and 11. If both join the fulfilment houses, love may convert into marriage.
Will marriage be delayed?
Vedic: Saturn's influence on the 7th house or lord, a weak Venus or Jupiter, or affliction to the Navamsa can delay marriage. KP: If the 7th cusp sub-lord connects with 2, 7, and 11 but also with Saturn or delaying houses, the event is delayed — not denied.

Important note. Astrology should be studied as a system of guidance and timing. A responsible astrologer first examines whether the event is promised; timing is given only after the promise is seen. For health, legal, financial, or medical matters, astrology should be used as supportive guidance and not as a replacement for qualified professional advice.
