Nāmabandha — name from a Prashna

Enter the lagna details and where the benefics sit. The tool applies the नामबन्ध method of Prashna Shiromani (pp. 149–153) to derive the likely name — number of syllables, first sound, and vowel-marks — and works out the strongest benefic in a kendra/trikoṇa for you.

Generate the Prashna for this moment (recommended)

Casts the chart for the present time at your location and fills everything below automatically — no need to upload a kundli or type the planets in.

or enter coordinates below
Or upload a Prashna Kundli image (optional reference)

Read the values below off this chart. (We don’t auto-read the image — manual entry keeps the result accurate.)

1 · Lagna (ascendant)

2 · Where the benefics sit

Enter the rāśi of each benefic from the Prashna Kundli. The tool finds which one is strongest in a kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) or trikoṇa (1, 5, 9)and uses it for the mātrā. Leave a planet blank if it isn’t relevant (e.g. a waning Moon).

The method, in short
  • Syllables — from the lagna’s navāṁśa: movable → 2, fixed → 3, dual → even (often 4).
  • First sound — the navāṁśa lord’s varṇa group (Sun→vowels, Mars→क, Venus→च, Mercury→ट, Jupiter→त, Saturn→प, Moon→य/श), narrowed by the drekkāṇa.
  • Strongest benefic — the tool counts each benefic’s house from the lagna, flags those in a kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) or trikoṇa (1, 5, 9), and ranks them by dignity (exalted > own sign) then placement (kendra > trikoṇa).
  • Vowel-marks — from the rising-type of that strongest benefic’s rāśi (head-rising → ए/ओ/अं on top; back-rising → उ/ऊ below; both → इ/ई on the side).
